An
Enjoyable Educational Visit to Vellore District and Nemili Block.
Vellore
District:
Vellore
District is one of the most famous Districts in Tamilnadu. Vellore is the city
and administrative headquarters of Vellore District. It is surrounded typically by mountains.
Vellore
District has 86.5% Male literacy rate and 71.95% Female literacy rate.
Vellore
Fort and Vainu Bappu Observatory are some of the most precious Educational sites
in Vellore District. It is always
remembered only these places about Vellore District.
But,
apart from these, there are many Monuments and Historical places in Vellore
District.
Nemili
Educational Block:
Nemili is one
of the biggest Revenue Blocks with 52 Panjayats in it. In Nemili Educational block, there are 73
Primary Schools, 23 Middle Schools, 14 High Schools, 12 Higher Secondary

Mahendravadi
Cave Temple and Tirumalpur Temple are some of the important monuments in Nemili
Block.
Mahendravadi
Cave Temple:
It
is an excellent extract from Nemili Educational Block of Vellore District. Mahendravadi
is a Village in Arakkonam Revenue Block.
Mahendravadi
Cave Temple was constructed by the Great Pallava King Mahendra Varman I in AD
580-630. Each monument of Pallavas has a peculiar specialty. In Mahendravadi there is a Cave Temple built
by carving a Single Stone, as in Mahabalipuram.
In
front of this Single Stone Cave temple, there are two pillars and two
pilasters. These are the front side
supports for the Cave temple. The
pillars are also excavated from a single stone, designed cube in shape at the
top, bottom and octagonal shape in the middle. This temple is well spoken, as
it is the only excavated Vishnu temple carved from a single stone.
In
the entrance, there are two Dwarapalaks appear as if they are in motion and
they are facing away from each other.
The greatness of Pallavas Building and Construction can be known by this
Temple.
There
is a Perennial Well which is full of water forever, 7 feet below the ground.
Tirumalpur
Manikandeeswarar Temple:
It
is a historical place called Harichakkarapuram.
Lord Choleeswarar installed in the temple in memory of
Paranthaka Chola.
This 1000-2000 years old Temple reveals Cholas Building systems.
The expertness
is exposed from the presiding deity-Moola Linga as it is made of
sand by Mother Parvathi on the banks of Virudaseera River. To avoid dissolution
of the sand Linga during abishek, it is covered by a copper pot.
